Shillong, commonly known as the 'Scotland of the East' is very close to heart. You know since childhood I used to have the desire of staying at least for few days only in two places in the world. The first is Shillong in the north eastern part of India and the other is England. There are reasons behind my desire. The first one was due to its natural beauty and the second one is for its intellectual power.
Fortunately, I got an assignment to work in Shillong for few years. And I suggest, if you are a nature lover, a lover of cleanliness, you should visit Shillong and its adjoining areas at least once.
Some of the appealing attractions as I experienced them are:
The water falls in and around Cherrapunjee - the ex-wettest place in the world
The lush green surroundings across the state
Neat and clean and well-maintained roads
Must see cave interiors near Cherrapunjee
I have traveled almost across the state during my 5 years stay. Really, I just ca not express the feelings I used to have as and when I travelled around. From my personnel experiences, I can vouch that Shillong offers much more than what we see of foreign locations in hindi cinemas.
I am sure Shillong is beautiful place and Bollywood has yet to experience the values of Shillong.
